Good design gets out of the way. It is quiet by default and loud only where it counts.
We tend to add. A new feature here, a badge there, one more colour to make it pop. But every addition asks something of the reader, and attention is the one budget you can never top up.
Perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.
The move is subtraction. Take the draft and remove until it almost breaks, then add back the one thing you missed.
