Why fast websites still matter

A fast site respects the reader. A slow one asks them to wait, and most will not.

Every second of delay costs attention, trust and, eventually, people. Performance is a form of hospitality.

The fastest code is the code that never runs.

The fix is usually less, not more. Fewer scripts, lighter images, simpler pages. Fast is mostly the absence of slow.
